Casa San Pablo Wedding Venue

Kayrine’s big day has finally arrived. My friends and I woke up so early so that we can go to Laguna for her wedding day. The weather forecasts said there’s going to be a typhoon this weekend. But we brave ourselves and still went to Laguna. Kayrine’s wedding was a very rainy day! Good thing we left Manila at an earlier time, otherwise, we will be trapped in the South Luzon Expressway, like the others guests to her wedding. It was a solemn mass, composed of family and close friends only. The reception was held at Casa San Pablo.




The food was delicious, and the hot cup of soup really soothed our bodies due to the cold weather. We were about to go home when we realized it’s too dangerous. We watched the television and saw what was happening in Manila. Text messages were also delayed, and according to my brother, they have no electricity. It’s a good thing Kayrine’s venue was a board and lodging type. It has become fully-booked for the night. Luckily I was able to borrow my friend’s laptop and started writing. I’m not sure of when I can use the internet again because, as everyone’s saying, “Manila is such a mess.” We were still lucky we’re in a safe place, with enough water to drink and a good bed to rest in.

Last Day of our Barbeque Business

After more than four months of operation and being together everyday, we finally closed our store today. I would like to thank all of our customers and new friends we’ve met. I know you’re all going to miss us. But that’s life. When one door closes, a window opens. Another chapter of our lives have ended and hopefully a new beginning of something good in the future. Now, we can concentrate more on our personal stuff. I just hope for the best!

Hotdog Fight

My friends and I were busy grilling food, suddenly Elizabeth accidentally dropped a hotdog. She’s always thinking deeply and somehow her recent breakup with her boyfriend keeps her staring blankly and almost out of her mind. I laughed because I remembered Angelo jokingly said Elizabeth was a Master of Disaster. Angelo on the other hand, laughed his heart out and said some stupid things to Elizabeth. Minutes after the incident, I found Elizabeth quietly grilling, when all of a sudden, she’s as if not in a good mood. When it’s time to go home, Elizabeth banged the door and left without even saying goodbye to Lyndsay. Lyndsay and I were so confused about Elizabeth’s behavior. Our hypothesis about this was she got mad when I laughed the moment she dropped the hotdog. I can’t imagine why she got mad at me. It was actually Angelo who had the craziest and loudest laugh, how come she got mad at me? Maybe she’s just too sensitive lately. Hopefully we’ll be able to know what she’s up to…

San Mig Light from Ricky

Our friend Ricky came to my house yesterday because he was sad and wanted to have a few drinks. Elizabeth and Portia were so excited about this drinking session. We cooked all of our barbeque and bought one case of San Mig Light from the store. I’m not into drinking anyway, so I just bought Iced Tea for me. I haven’t seen Ricky for a long time now and I was really happy to get in touch with him. He taught us how to manage our financial auditing for our business. It was nice of him to do that. Ricky, thank you so much!

Valentine’s Day 2009

My friends and I went to Angelo’s jamming session. It was passed 8pm and all the tables were surprisingly occupied. Good thing Angelo reserved a table for us. It was out first time to hear their music. Their duo was acoustic, Angelo playing the percussion while his friend sings and plays the guitar. They started drinking beer, while I ordered a bottle of Coca Cola! I do not drink alcohol beverages, so what? I came there to see and appreciate their music, and of course, the food! I ordered my favorite sizzling pork chop with gravy and rice, yum-yum! Across our table were two guys who happen to be staring at our table. We were laughing because they look stupid, probably thinking what to say or how to approach us. Then the waiter came and gave us three bottles of beer, courtesy of those guys. After five minutes, one guy came to our table and asked Lyndsay “Pwede bang makipag-friends? Kamukha mo kasi ang kaibigan ko sa probinsiya (Can I be friends with you? You looked like my friend in my province.).” Then he gave three faux roses to Lyndsay saying, “Happy Valentine’s!” We just stared at each other, trying to control our big laugh! Of course we do not want to humiliate the guy, but what he just said and did was so hilarious! Lyndsay thanked the guy, so as not to insult him. What’s more funnier was when he said “Pwede ko bang mahingi ang number mo (Can I have your number?)?” Our eyes grew wider, we could not believe he has the guts to say that. Out of courtesy, we gave out a old number I was not using anymore. After getting the number, he shakes hands with Lyndsay and left our table for good. I have nothing against these kinds of people. It was just a funny moment for us, because normally it was Lyndsay who gets noticed easily. And she proved her “radiating neon lights” once again!

29 Candles for Louise

It’s Louise’s birthday today! My friends and I did not open up our barbeque stand today because Louise promised to treat us. I went to Lyndsay’s house because it’s our meeting place. Louise came 15 minutes after I arrived. I was surprised to see Elizabeth driving a Toyota Fortuner! I do not have a car and it was my first time to ride this one. We went to Serendra Bonifacio High Street (Bonifacio Global City in Taguig). Our other friend Josie was already there with her husband and her baby girl. We were so happy to see her again, it’s been a long time since we last saw each other. This was the first time Louise was able to treat us. We were arguing on where to dine, but at last, we settled with Italianni’s Restaurant. We were so hungry, I wasn’t even able to take pictures of what we ordered, hehehe! It’s so embarrassing because we immediately consumed everything on the table! After we finished our meal, a waiter suddenly came out of nowhere and started singing a “happy birthday” song (it was in Spanish), together with other 5 crew members. They have a maracas and a tambourine with them, making the entire “show” a very lively one. We were all shocked with what they did, and we were all laughing. Louise received a small slice of chocolate cake with a matching lighted candle. She blew the candle out and who knows what she wished for. We wanted to have coffee after our meal but we were so full and our stomachs can’t accommodate anything anymore. So we decided to call it a day. On our way home, Louise told us a story that happened to her a couple of months ago. She went to Serendra too, and unfortunately, she got lost going to Quezon City. She remembered driving to nowhere, until she saw a sign saying “South Luzon Expressway” (Quezon City is somewhere in the North). It’s definitely NOT the right way! So she got scared and panicked at the same time, she didn’t know what to do. Luckily, a vendor passed by and she bravely asked for directions. The vendor told her there was a small U-Turn at the end of the road before she could exit the Expressway. What a relief, she said. Elizabeth was quietly smiling and then told us she wasn’t familiar with Taguig either, therefore, we found ourselves lost along the way! The funny thing was we also saw a sign saying “South Luzon Expressway,” therefore, we were lost just like what happened to Louise! Oh my gas! We can’t believe it happened again! We stopped near a store and asked for directions. They said the same thing “there was a small U-Turn at the end of the road.” We were giggling so hard, this could have been the funniest thing that happened to us for a long time. Tonight has been definitely a fun night for all of us.

February, the Love Month

Today is the first day of February. My friends and I were wondering what we should do on Valentine’s Day. Should we have a girl’s night out or should we just stay at home and rent some movies? Then I remembered our friend Angelo invited us to his jamming session on January 14. Now at least, we have something to look forward to!

Elizabeth’s Crush

We’re chatting in our barbecue stand, and talking about what kind of guys are we searching for. Lindsay wanted a pilot, while I wanted an Engineer or a Lawyer instead. Elizabeth said “Oh, I wanted to marry a doctor” and then suddenly, a really cute guy, dressed in a “medicine-student” uniform passed by. Elizabeth immediately had a crush on him! We were laughing because the guy was like 20 years old only, while Elizabeth was 28. Talk about cradle-snatching here, this guy was way too young for her! We would joke about Elizabeth taking care of all this guy’s needs from tuition fees and everything, like a sugar momma does! But it’s nothing serious, at least Elizabeth has something to look forward too! Wahahaha!

Barbecue, anyone?

We started our barbecue business today. A lot of people bought because it’s something new. As beginners in this kind of business, of course, we still have room for improvement. Many told us that our grill is too shallow, we need to add sand onto it. There’s a construction site near our place, and we asked them (“the construction boys”) to give us some free sand. Of course, who would say NO to 3 beautiful ladies? Wahahaha! Everything was sold out. I wish this is not just a beginner’s luck!

Market, market!

Elizabeth, Lindsay and I were looking for a part-time job to augment our income. Since our work is only until 2:30pm, we decided to open a barbecue stand near my home. We have no competitor, that’s why we think this will be a good idea. So today, we went to the market. We bought pork and also chicken intestines. I haven’t been to a wet market for a long time, because we buy food from the grocery. I really don’t like the wet market, it doesn’t smell nice, the pavement is uneven, there are puddles of who-knows-what and of course, it’s very wet and slippery. We have no choice but to buy there, because it’s more convenient due to its proximity to our homes. But don’t worry, foods bought here are fresh and clean! Good luck to the three of us, we have to do this thing regularly from now on!

Baby Photo Contest Winner

My friend Kayrine joined a Baby Photo Contest and today is the last day of voting. Only hours left before the deadline for the submission of entries, our competitor was leading by 50 votes. More people were logged in than the usual number, which is 5 at most (I, Lindsay, Kayrine and 2 others). The site suddenly experienced lag-ness and our votes were having a hard time passing through. We were in panic mode! We did our best, to the maximum level! When we knew the timer has stopped, and the counting of votes was over, we waited patiently for the results. Oh my gas! We can’t believe it. We lost by 12 votes! It’s acceptable if it happens to be 120 or 1,000 votes, but no, imagine that, 12 votes?! Now Kayrine’s baby was only second best. I don’t think I can get over this…for a long time…

Baby Photo Contest

My friend Kayrine joined this photo contest for her baby and the winners will be judged by the number of votes. Kayrine created 4 accounts so that we can help her with the clicks. An account is debited by 2 points for every 1 vote. The 4 accounts have more or less 80,000 points! Oh my gas! That’s too many! Anyway, Lindsay and I usually meet in Yahoo Messenger at 11:00 pm to vote. We are so serous in clicking because the competitor was ahead at number 1 spot by 1,000 votes. I don’t even know if we can win this, because from what I’ve heard, the competitor has lots of friends who votes for them. But we will not give up and vote everyday. Hopefully we could win this!

First 29th Birthday Celebrant!

Today we celebrated the 29th birthday of my friend, Lindsay. There are 10 of us in my group (of friends), and among my best buddies, Lindsay was the first one to reach 29 years of age. So maybe now you are thinking, “So what if she’s 29?” We very well know women have a sort of “expiration date” when it comes to marriage and pregnancy. Unluckily, Lindsay is currently Single and Available. Most of our friends were married with kids, and only the four of us (Lindsay, Elizabeth and Louise) were left waiting for Mr. Right. Oh come on! So what does this have to do with me? Everything! Sooner, I’ll wake up being 29, single and (probably) still available! I just hope Mr. Right comes before that happens!
