The Heart of a Gamer

I really love playing games. It started when I was still a young girl in my Elementary days (around 10 years old). My dad would teach us to play cards, but not just the ordinary pairing game. He taught us to play “Pusoy, Pusoy Dos and Tong-its” (a variation of Big Two which can be played separately or in certain combinations using poker hand rankings). During the “brown-out era” in the 80’s, when almost all household in the Philippines owns at least one rechargeable lamp, my siblings and I were busy collecting Php0.25 cents from all corners of our house just to be able to play with our dad. It’s not like he taught us how to gamble with money, but it was a good way to motivate us to play harder. We would stay in our veranda, with our rechargeable lamp of course, and play until the electricity comes back. My dad would also tell our uncles how good we are at playing cards and we would beat them hands down. I really had great times with my family and for me, playing games has become part of our “quality times” together. So ever since, my love for games has never been this rewarding.

Pink and White Orchids

While passing by my neighbor’s house, I noticed the orchids in their garden. They were so lovely.





I hope I can have plants at home too, but our house has limited space for planting. Maybe someday, when I have my own family, I will definitely purchase a house with provision for gardening.

Anything Goes at Burgoo

It was my mom’s birthday yesterday and we went out for dinner. Of course, we ate at our favorite restaurant, Burgoo. I’m always excited when dining in Burgoo. They have large servings and they always give away free food (if you have a coupon). Too bad my camera ran out of batteries, I wasn’t able to take pictures of what we ordered. I love their Carbonara, that’s why I make it a point to always include that in our menu. We ordered Caesar salad, pizza, pork chops and chicken kebabs. Unfortunately, we can’t order any seafood because my brother is allergic to it. We have to stick with chicken, pork or beef. Well it doesn’t matter because anything on Burgoo tastes good. I will definitely come back for more!

Hotdog Fight

My friends and I were busy grilling food, suddenly Elizabeth accidentally dropped a hotdog. She’s always thinking deeply and somehow her recent breakup with her boyfriend keeps her staring blankly and almost out of her mind. I laughed because I remembered Angelo jokingly said Elizabeth was a Master of Disaster. Angelo on the other hand, laughed his heart out and said some stupid things to Elizabeth. Minutes after the incident, I found Elizabeth quietly grilling, when all of a sudden, she’s as if not in a good mood. When it’s time to go home, Elizabeth banged the door and left without even saying goodbye to Lyndsay. Lyndsay and I were so confused about Elizabeth’s behavior. Our hypothesis about this was she got mad when I laughed the moment she dropped the hotdog. I can’t imagine why she got mad at me. It was actually Angelo who had the craziest and loudest laugh, how come she got mad at me? Maybe she’s just too sensitive lately. Hopefully we’ll be able to know what she’s up to…

Sunset in Zambales

My family went on a road trip in Subic, Zambales yesterday. We went to my Aunt’s house for a visit. She then took us to Subic Bay and we just sat on one of the benches there and enjoyed the sunset.

Coyote Ugly (2000)

Ever since I was a child, I love watching dance moves from movies. Coyote Ugly is definitely one of my favorite “dance movies” of all time. Everyone looked so sexy and steaming hot during their performance nights.

This movie is about Violet Sanford (Piper Perabo), who wants to pursue her dream of becoming a songwriter (in New York City). She manages to get a position in the city's newest hot spot as a bar maid. This new bar, Coyote Ugly, has a team of sexy women who tantalize customers with their outrageous antics. Her journey to becoming a songwriter starts when she met Kevin O'Donnell (Adam Garcia), a kitchen employee, who poses as a recording artists’ manager.

I love Eva Fonda!

I caught Justin, a 10-year-old boy who constantly hangs around our barbeque business, wandering outside my house, all geared up, polished and newly bathed, as if waiting for someone. He said he’s waiting for us to go outside and sell our stuff. I really like this boy, he looks cute, honest and very funny. I told him the other day “Justin, I have a crush on you.” He smiled and wittingly said “Eh, you’re older than me!” and then everyone started giggling. To me, this was just a joke. Portia noticed how neat Justin looked today and said “Why are you dressed like that? Do you have a date or you just want to call Amaranth’s attention?” He blushed and shyly said “Of course not!” We giggled at the thought that this little boy, having said I liked him, was totally a different person now than that of two days ago. He jokingly said, “Hey, you looked like someone, an actress on the television.” I was surprised and curious who could that be. He said “You looked like Eva Fonda, but not because you’re as pretty as her, but because you have this fuzzy and curly hair just like hers!” Bwahahaha! Portia and I laughed so hard, I have been complaining about my hair for a long time because it’s becoming curlier everyday. But then, look at the brighter side, he said Eva Fonda (Christine Reyes)! She is really pretty and voted as one of the sexiest female in the country. Well, at least I’ve got her hair!

San Mig Light from Ricky

Our friend Ricky came to my house yesterday because he was sad and wanted to have a few drinks. Elizabeth and Portia were so excited about this drinking session. We cooked all of our barbeque and bought one case of San Mig Light from the store. I’m not into drinking anyway, so I just bought Iced Tea for me. I haven’t seen Ricky for a long time now and I was really happy to get in touch with him. He taught us how to manage our financial auditing for our business. It was nice of him to do that. Ricky, thank you so much!

Diet 2009

Today I started my no-rice diet. It is very difficult for me to do that because my passion is eating…rice, especially with pork chops and gravy! I just ate crackers the whole day. I know it’s not a good idea to deprive myself of eating when in fact, some people have nothing to eat at all. My tummy is too fat, I must do some sit-ups. I must drink plenty of water. I must not crave for rice. I really HAVE TO reduce weight, otherwise, I won’t be able to fit into the dress for Kayrine’s wedding on September! Also, Biker Guy’s girlfriend was so skinny, how could I compete with her? So good luck to all of us!

I saw Biker Guy across the street near his rented apartment. I was excited at first but then I saw a girl with him. The girl went down from the bike and waited for him as he parked it. We were staring at each other’s eyes, she’s as if telling not to flirt with her guy. I immediately asked myself it she was his girlfriend. Minutes later, I saw them coming out of their apartment and I was surprised to see the girl with wet hair. Did she just take a bath? Maybe she was his sister? I’m in denial right now! But then again, how could I prove their relationship with each other? Let’s just see in the next couple days…
