Which One is Real?

While I was rummaging through my old photo album, I saw this stuffed animal’s picture. My friend gave me this cute stuffed dog a few years back. I would play with it the whole day, and even take it to bed with me when I sleep. It was so cute, I wish it was real. This was the last picture I’ve taken from him. I want my “pet” to be remembered and it’s also for his sake. I realized he might get dirty so I kept him in a secured box for safekeeping.

Two years after, my sister brought home a “real pet” from Baguio City. Kenji traveled more than a thousand miles just to be with us and become our newest family member. We love him so much and treated him as our baby. Maybe one day we’ll be able to buy him a female partner. We’re going to have a lot of loving!

Green Mango with Bagoong

My mom brought home this freshly picked green mango from her friend’s farm (in the province). Green mangoes give me fond memories of family bonding and togetherness. When we were still young, my siblings and I would always go to my grandmother’s house in the province. We always stay there for the whole duration of summer vacation. My grandmother would cook “unknown” dishes/viands, which we don’t eat. It’s a good thing she always buy green and ripe mangoes from the market. We were scared of her because she would scold us if we don’t finish our meal. Since we’re not fond of her viands, we would eat ripe mangoes with rice! During snack time, she would give us green mangoes with shrimp paste (bagoong). My siblings and I really loved the taste of ripe mangoes slightly dipped in bagoong. Yum yum!

Bride Wars (2009)

I love watching chick flicks even though most of them are just a waste of time. But since Anne Hathaway starred in this movie, I have to watch it! I just can’t believe how two close friends fight over their wedding. It should be the biggest day in a girl's life and everything should go perfect. The movie is not that great, but entertaining because of their gag cat fights, especially how these two women almost undress each other on their wedding day.

This movie stars Kate Hudson (Emma) and Anne Hathaway (Liv), two best friends who became worst enemies. They accidentally scheduled their respective weddings on the same day. Now, they have to compete for guests and venues. These two brides go on a rampage toward matrimony. Can they still save their friendship?

Facebook vs. Friendster

Due to the increasing demand of Facebook nowadays, a lot of Friendster users have switched. Unlike Friendster, Facebook offers more applications and games that can be played with your friends. What’s more interesting with Facebook is the ease of use when filtering or grouping your friends list. This feature is what I’m waiting to happen in Friendster. I remembered writing this suggestion to Friendster support a few years back, but I don’t know if they did something about it. I have been receiving a lot if friend requests lately, which proved the popularity of Facebook. Based on my feeds, most of my friends are fond of answering different kinds of personality tests, and it spreads like wild fire from one friend to another, much like comparing notes. There are a lot of games to be played too like Pet Society, Farm Town, Restaurant City, Mafia Wars and Sorority Life. Facebook is indeed the newest craze in the country and we can expect more new updates in the coming days.

David Cook - Light On

"Light On" by David Cook

Never really said too much
Afraid it wouldn't be enough
Just try to keep my spirits up
When there's no point in grieving
Doesn't matter anyway
Words could never make me stay
Words will never take my place
When you know I'm leaving

Try to leave a light on when I'm gone
Something I rely on to get home
One I can feel at night
A naked light, a fire to keep me warm
Try to leave a light on when I'm gone
Even in the daylight, shine on
And when it's late at night you can look inside
You won't feel so alone

You know we've been down that road
What seems a thousand times before
My back to a closing door and my eyes to the seasons
That roll out underneath my heels
And you don't know how bad it feels
To leave the only one that I have ever believed in

Try to leave a light on when I'm gone
Something I rely on to get home
One I can feel at night
A naked light, a fire to keep me warm
Try to leave a light on when I'm gone
Even in the daylight, shine on
And when it's late at night you can look inside
You won't feel so alone, ooh, yeah

Sometimes it feels like we've run out of luck
When the signal keeps on breaking up
When the wires cross in my brain
You'll start my heart again
When I come along, yeah

Try to leave a light on when I'm gone
Something I rely on to get home
One I can feel at night
A naked light, a fire to keep me warm
Try to leave a light on when I'm gone
Even in the daylight, shine on
And when it's late at night you can look inside
You won't feel so alone
Try to leave a light on when I'm gone
Even in the daylight, shine on
And when it's late at night you can look inside
You won't feel so alone

Pet Society Bathroom Showcase

When I opened my Pet Society game, I received tons of gifts from my friend Ashley. She sent me a bathroom showcase and they were all in pink! I was so excited I immediately remodeled my bathroom! Oh my pet’s going to love her new bathroom look!

Dad’s Birthday

Today is my dad’s birthday. He’s supposed to be 61 years old now. He’s probably having fun and drinking beer with my late grandfathers and uncles. When I was young, I remembered my dad brought home a cute puppy. We were all excited to pet him/her, but our landlady told us she doesn’t want any pet within the vicinity of her home. I don’t remember what happened, all I know is we don’t have the puppy when I woke up the following morning. I bet he’ll be happy to know we have adopted 2 dogs as new family members now. How I wish my dad was still alive. Here’s your favorite Brazo De Mercedes (soft meringue filled with sweet custard) cake! We love you dad!

Pet Society Fanatic

The first game I played in Facebook was Pet Society. I created a pink pet and dressed it with a shirt. I don’t have enough money yet to buy her decent clothes. It was very hard to earn money here. I needed to win the race ten (10) times and I always walk around town to get some money behind the trees. Since most of my friends play Pet Society, I see to it that I visit their houses everyday. My goal is to buy some good stuff for my pet especially a bath tub, a comfortable bed and probably some new clothes. Happy Gaming!

Biker Guy Moved Out

I was shocked to see Biker Guy this afternoon. He and his friend have been loading some boxes into the car as if someone’s moving out. My friends and I were arguing who’s it going to be, his friend or Biker Guy himself. But then things were somehow clear, it was Biker Guy. I can see from the way he looks at us and from what he’s wearing, he’s definitely moving out. I was really sad and I don’t know for sure if I’m going to see him again. After my friends and I closed our barbeque stand in the evening, I went to the nearest store to buy some tomatoes for dinner. Luckily, I saw Biker Guy come out from one of the units in the apartment behind the store! He really moved out, but not that far…

A Gamer’s Passion

I would remember the time when my dad would come late at home from work (around 2:00 am) and he would sneak up to play the family computer. Once he opens the TV, my brother and sister would wake up to the sound of Super Mario Bros. We can stay up all night just watching our dad play, even if we have classes in the morning. We would cheer for him as he passes one stage after the other. I would wholeheartedly remember each sequence so that I know what to do when I play it in the afternoon (from school). I also practiced on how to get the “secret 300 lives” with the use of the two turtles coming down just before finishing World 3. Let the first turtle go and then lightly jump on the second turtle (it should be standing still on the steps). Jump on that turtle again until you keep bouncing into the other turtle. You can now get as many “lives” as you can! Just be careful not to overdo it because if you, the game will be over.

My brother is also a gamer. Sometimes my dad would buy new games and let my brother play on his own. I was awed by the intelligence of my brother to “decipher” on how to finish the game. I really loved the feeling of “relief” once we passed a stage, even if I’m just watching my dad or my brother play. Since then, I was attracted to any game I could possibly get my hands on. If I remember it correctly, we were playing this game, Adventure Island, right before our family computer got broken. It’s like Super Mario Bros too, but Master Higgins can ride a skateboard and have fairy sidekicks to boost his power. It is necessary to collect those floating food items by jumping in the air, or else Master Higgins will die. Until now, we haven’t finished the game. How I wish we could find a copy of that game and maybe my brother and I could finish it…for our beloved dad.

Off to the Salon

My friend Elizabeth told me this great salon, Tony and Jackey, somewhere in Tomas Morato. Her friend apparently went there for a hair rebonding treatment.

She said it was a Korean Salon and the hairstylists were all Korean. I was hesitant at first, thinking it should be very expensive considering they are foreign stylists. I haven’t really been into those so-called classy salons because I’m very much comfortable with my neighborhood’s cheap ones. But Elizabeth assured me their hair rebonding treatment was the best she’d ever seen.

It was already 3:00 pm when I reached the C.T.T.M. Square (Tomas Morato cor. Timog Avenue, Quezon City). There have so many customers waiting in line so I thought this place was really well-known after all. I was really impressed by the posh design of this salon. They also have a flat-screen TV and a waiting lounge where you can have tea, coffee and water for free. They have Filipino assistants who help in the shampoo and blow dry as well as coating the hair with the hair products.

My stylist was Jerome and he asked to me sit in a “baby chair” (while on top of the stylist’s chair). I wasn’t comfortable sitting that way, the baby chair has no cushion or anything soft to sit on and to think I have to sit that way for almost 3 hours. I asked the assistants if they’ve seen anyone sit on that baby chair before. They said it was their first time to see one. I paid Php1,500.00 for the hair rebonding and gave additional tips for Jerome and his assistant. Even though I had to endure a rough time sitting on the baby chair, I think I was able to get my money’s worth. My hair looks so shiny and straight! I just hope that people will notice my newly rebounded hair tomorrow. Too bad, I won’t be able to look like Eva Fonda anymore!

Kings of Leon - Use Somebody

"Use Somebody" by Kings of Leon

I've been roaming around
Always looking down at all I see
Painted faces, fill the places I cant reach

You know that I could use somebody
You know that I could use somebody

Someone like you, And all you know, And how you speak
Countless lovers under cover of the street

You know that I could use somebody
You know that I could use somebody
Someone like you

Off in the night, while you live it up, I'm off to sleep
Waging wars to shape the poet and the beat
I hope it's gonna make you notice
I hope it's gonna make you notice

Someone like me
Someone like me
Someone like me, somebody

Someone like you, somebody
Someone like you, somebody
Someone like you, somebody

I've been roaming around,
Always looking down at all I see
