A Season for Sharing

Christmas is over, but the season for sharing has not yet ended. Now is the time to make the last minute shopping and gift giving, “it’s better late than never.” As the saying goes, “It’s better to give than to receive.” So, how many gifts did you received? Have you experienced receiving 3 sets of photo frames, 5 coffee mugs, 4 calendars and 6 ballpens in one Christmas occasion? I’m sure some of you received more than what I have received. What am I going to do with all of them? Practically speaking, I “recycle” them! I know it’s not ethical, but I only have ample storage space. I should give it to someone who needs them most. But of course, one should do this with precaution, or else you might end up giving the item to the person who gave it to you!

Dekaron – Segita Hunter

Three weeks ago, my brother created an account with Dekaron SEA and his class/character was a Vicious Summoner. I am not a fan of those close combat characters, so I decided to go with the long ranged ones. Since my previous online game’s (Ragnarok) main character was a Wizard, I excluded the Incar Magician to be my main character in Dekaron. Now I have to choose between a Segnale and a Segita Hunter. The Segnale (it is pronounced as "Seniale", the "g" is silent) class is basically like a Priestess, they have the ability to heal themselves, heal their allies and most especially, revive a dead character. This class is also the more popular class for parties, because of their buffing skills (can increase allies’ attack and defense and lower the opponents attack and defense). It is a much fitted character for females actually, but then again, I remembered the horror this class can give (as experienced using a Priestess class in Ragnarok). You will eventually become the party SLAVE, being shouted at almost all the time due to your (supposedly) continuous buffing skills and it’s as if you don’t have the right to make mistakes because every life depends on you! So I decided to go with Segita Hunter instead. Besides, this class’ armor look is really sexy compared to a Segnale. I played Dekaron because I want to de-stress myself from my day-to-day activities and I believe that Segita Hunters are loners in nature. Therefore I can play at my own pace, without worrying too much about my party-mates/allies. I can use long range weapon like bows and crossbows and sometimes a close range weapon like daggers. The only problem with this class is that they usually got lower HP (Healing Power) than others, but they got higher Dexterity which makes their attacks so powerful. I don’t want to face the monsters/enemies closely so I would probably stay back in battles and shoot long range attacks. This way, I won’t get hurt as often and I don’t need to bring a lot of health potions. Therefore, I can get more drops/loots for myself (more loots = more money)! Let the journey begin!

Christmas 2008

Today is Christmas yet it felt like an ordinary day to me. My sister and I just watched television while playing with our dogs. Of course my brother got so addicted to Dekaron, he just played all day (he’s the blurred image sitting behind our dog Kenji)! In the evening, my sister and I cooked Fettuccine Carbonara. This Christmas was very simple for us, no merry-making whatsoever. Our mom cried today, she must have remembered my dad (who died more than 2 years ago due to cancer). She locked herself in her room and when it’s time to eat Noche Buena, only my siblings and I were around the dining table. She said she’s not hungry and she doesn’t want to eat anything tonight. We ate two hours earlier, 10:00 pm to be exact. Nothing much for dinner, we only had pasta and roasted chicken. So after dinner, it’s time to feed the dogs! Our other dog Peachy ate a bowlful of pasta (take note: Pasta, which is one of her favorite dish), while Kenji ate roasted chicken (his favorite). Yes, you read that right, Chicken. We know dogs must not be fed with chicken because its meat is malansa (or having the stench or taste of fish) and may cause hair loss to them. But how could you refuse this cute being’s face asking for chicken? It’s Christmas anyway, so we gave him a small amount of roasted chicken, some pasta sauce and dog pellets. So, is everyone happy? Wahahaha! Merry Christmas to all!

Baby Photo Contest Winner

My friend Kayrine joined a Baby Photo Contest and today is the last day of voting. Only hours left before the deadline for the submission of entries, our competitor was leading by 50 votes. More people were logged in than the usual number, which is 5 at most (I, Lindsay, Kayrine and 2 others). The site suddenly experienced lag-ness and our votes were having a hard time passing through. We were in panic mode! We did our best, to the maximum level! When we knew the timer has stopped, and the counting of votes was over, we waited patiently for the results. Oh my gas! We can’t believe it. We lost by 12 votes! It’s acceptable if it happens to be 120 or 1,000 votes, but no, imagine that, 12 votes?! Now Kayrine’s baby was only second best. I don’t think I can get over this…for a long time…

The Nightmare Before Christmas (Movie)

Ever since I was a kid, my siblings and I would always watch this movie on television. I really loved the graphics and of course, the story.

"Halloween Town" is a dream world inhabited by deformed monsters, ghosts, ghouls, goblins, vampires, werewolves, and witches. Jack Skellington, also called "the Pumpkin King", leads them in a celebration every Halloween, but has grown tired of its repetition. Wandering in the forest outside the town center, he accidentally opens a portal to "Christmas Town". Impressed by the feeling and style of Christmas, Jack presents his findings and his understanding of the holiday to the Halloween Town residents and they decided to make their own Christmas with their own twist.

House Blessing at Luntala, Valle Verde, Pasig City

I have an uncle (he's actually a balikbayan from the US) who recently bought one townhouse unit at Luntala, Valle Verde, Pasig City (a 77-unit residential townhouse development located inside Valle Verde 6-A), so that they will have a place to stay whenever they visit the Philippines. Today is the house blessing and my family arrived just in time. The house was nice, of course, it HAS TO BE nice, considering the amount they spent on it! It has an Asian architecture, straight and simple lines, modern yet classic. There is a private entrance for cars and members of the family through the ground parking (2-car garage) below. This ground level is most likely to be a basement with a pocket garden, maid's room with T&B and laundry/service area. On the first floor, they have living and dining rooms, kitchen and a powder room for guests. On the second floor, the master’s bedroom has a walk-in closet and T&B that occupies one whole level of the unit. The third floor has 2 bedrooms and a common T&B. I observed that most of the units were still empty, but majority of them were already sold (and only few units left).

The most impressive thing here was when I learned from the developers and agents (who also attended the house blessing) that boxing champ Manny Pacquiao purchased a unit too, and his unit was just beside my uncle’s. You can see in this photo that I was standing in front of Manny’s door! The opened door to the right was my uncle’s unit. I hope to see Manny there one day and be able to shake hands with the Pambansang Kamao!

Have you tried online shopping?

We all know that Christmas shopping is one of the most frustrating things about the holidays. Have you noticed how crowded the malls are nowadays? I think most people are at the Toys/Children Sections, or any store which sells stuff for kids? In these hard times, I believe people now are becoming more practical when it comes to gift-giving. Sometimes godparents are even asked by the parents to donate cash instead of buying toys or clothes. Most of us are really into the “rush hour thing” and ending up buying the wrong kinds of gifts. Well, how about online shopping instead? There are a lot of potential in the online shopping industry in our country. Multiply.com houses a lot of aspiring entrepreneurs selling all kinds of stuff online. The process is simple, search for an item you want and visit their sites. Once you made up your mind, finalize your order by filling out an order form. You can pay the merchant via bank deposits or Globe G-cash. Finally, wait for the courier to arrive with your items. This system is something new to us and I hope it will stay here for a long time because online shopping saves you from dealing with the crowded malls, insufficient parking spaces, waiting in long lines, and sitting in traffic. And the best part about online shopping is that you don’t have to leave your house and you can do it all at your own convenience. Happy shopping!

Plain White T's - Let Me Take You There

“Let Me Take You There” by Plain White T's

I know a place that we can go to
A place where no one knows you
They won't know who we are
I know a place that we can run to
And do those things we want to
They won't know who we are

Let me take you there
I wanna take you there

I know a place that we forgotten
A place where we won't get caught in
They won't know who we are (they won't know, won't know)
I know a place where we can hide out
And turn our hearts inside out
They won't know who we are

Let me take you there
I wanna take you there
Let me take you there
Take you there
Take you there
Ooohhh
Ooohhh
Ooohhh
Ooohhh

I know a place we'll be together
And stay this young forever
They won't know who we are

Let me take you there
I wanna take you there
Let me take you there
Take you there
Take you there
Ooohhh

We can get away to a better place
If you let me take you there
We can go there now cause every second counts
Girl just let me take you there
Take you there.

Baby Photo Contest

My friend Kayrine joined this photo contest for her baby and the winners will be judged by the number of votes. Kayrine created 4 accounts so that we can help her with the clicks. An account is debited by 2 points for every 1 vote. The 4 accounts have more or less 80,000 points! Oh my gas! That’s too many! Anyway, Lindsay and I usually meet in Yahoo Messenger at 11:00 pm to vote. We are so serous in clicking because the competitor was ahead at number 1 spot by 1,000 votes. I don’t even know if we can win this, because from what I’ve heard, the competitor has lots of friends who votes for them. But we will not give up and vote everyday. Hopefully we could win this!

Christmas is just around the corner

I know Christmas is fast approaching and most people are in a hurry to buy something nice for their loved ones. Be it simple or extravagant, it’s the thought that counts, right? So here I am, rushing over my Christmas orders via my online store. I have created new designs to my accessories gallery and posted some of them. The prices are also indicated by clicking the pictures one by one. I hope I’m just in time for my business contacts’ shopping.

Wicker Park (Movie)

I really love Josh Hartnett! So when I saw this movie listed in IMBD.com, I immediately downloaded a copy. He’s the type of guy, who can look gross (I don’t care how dirty he looks), and still I think he’s so hot!

Matthew (Josh Hartnett) is a young man in the city with a great job and a potentially major promotion on the way. He’s on the verge of proposing to his beautiful girlfriend, Rebecca (Jessica Paré). Matthew prepares to leave for China for a major business meeting, but he runs into a woman in his past. Matthew follows the trail to a familiar place, the apartment of Lisa (Diane Kruger), a past girlfriend who disappeared two years ago. But the woman he discovers at the apartment is not who he was expecting to find.

Dekaron – Vicious Summoner

Have you played Diablo II before? I bet majority of online gamers have (at least) played this classic role-playing game. Do you remember the Necromancer class? The Necromancer is a form of sorcerer whose spells deal with the raising of the dead and the summoning (and control) of various creatures for his purposes. This reminds me of Dekaron’s Vicious Summoner class, as the name implies, summons creatures to aid him during his battles. There are two types of creatures he can summon. These are Libido (the poisoning and cursing type monsters) and the Beast (which are the elemental type creatures with skills in lighting, fire and ice). These creatures can be sent out on there own to face any enemy. Since my brother loves a close, face-to-face combat, and the Vicious Summoner is a “new” job class (amongst other MMORPG), he chose this to be his main character. He used the Twin Blade weapon skills. The Twin Sword Summoner is a fast paced attacker who throws volleys of attacks at their enemies without allowing their enemies to attack back. He relies on hitting and not being hit himself. I told my brother that his character is “cheater-like,” because he can leave his character in the middle of nowhere, and his summon will attack on his behalf, gaining experience along the way! Of course, he can level-up without lifting a finger. He then told me to create (open an account) one, so that I won’t get jealous! Wahahaha! I would definitely try out this new character.

Dekaron Southeast Asia

My brother was invited by his friend to play this new extreme MMORPG (Massively Multi Player Role-Playing Game) called Dekaron. It is designed for the hardcore and mature gamers. I believe it is not suited for minors mainly due to its violent gameplay features. As in really violent: body parts explode and there’s blood everywhere! What I like about it is the graphics! It is so realistic, like you’re watching an action movie. Dekaron features 6 classes to choose from: Azure Knight, Bagi Warrior, Incar Magician, Segita Hunter, Segnale and Vicious Summoner. The minimum system requirements are: 1 Ghz CPU, 512 MB RAM, Windows 98/2000/XP OS, Geforce FX or Radeon 9550 or better (128M graphic memory or better), Sound Card, DirectX 9.0c or above, Broadband/DSL connection. If your system only meets the minimum requirements, you may not see graphic or contents that the Dekaron intends to show properly. So what are you waiting for? Try Dekaron today!
